My lessons consist of a combination of learning proper technique and fundamentals in order to build a solid foundation on the Bass. I like to keep a balance in areas such as technique, scales, chords and arpeggios, groove playing, improvising, reading and playing bass in a variety of styles and genres. Timing and rhythm is essential for any great bassist so I emphasize rhythm and help students build from there. My goal is to get students to become working bass players and to provide them with the tools needed to be well rounded and possess great overall musicianship.
My approach also consists of spiritual practices such as yoga, meditation, and dharma studies. Spiritual practice is the foundation that allows me to live creatively and continue working on music. I'd like to thank my teacher Bhapuji Tisziji Muñoz for his ongoing support and guidance. It is one of the blessings of my life to work with a spiritual and musical master and I'm eternally grateful for his wisdom and guidance. Tisziji has led bands and has shared the stage with musical greats like McCoy Tyner, Pharaoh Sanders, Rashied Ali, John Medeski, Paul Shaffer, Ra Kalam Bob Moses, Dave Liebman and many more. I am grateful to be a student of Tisziji's and am dedicated to spiritual practice as well as playing deep music. Love Always, HU
