About
Steven is an active composer, songwriter, performer, and private music instructor from Flint, Michigan. In 2018, he earned his Bachelor of Music, studying composition and classical guitar, from Central Michigan University. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has developed a unique musical style. Genres include blues, bluegrass, classical, comedy, folk, musical theater, and rock.
In 2020, Steven released his first solo experimental folk EP, Marquee. In 2018, he presented a staged reading of his first original musical, 3 Pekes in a Pod, a story about two important subjects, dogs and cultural division (Mott Community College and Central Michigan University). In 2017, he composed original music and sound design for William Shakespeare's, Pericles (Central Michigan University), which earned him a KC-FTA Certificate of Merit. His other contributions include original music for various short films, plays, comedy sketch acts, and live theater.
As an instructor, he is engaging, insightful and patient. For nearly a decade, he has worked with nearly 300+ students, consisting of private lessons and group classes, ranging from age five to adult. Steven strongly believes in the importance of musical education and its impact on one's life.
Lessons are customized to best fit the needs, goals, and musical interests of each student. I make it a priority to assist students in developing the ideal path to reach their desired goals in a creative, personal, and unique learning environment. Whether you want to learn to pick the banjo on the porch, strum the guitar with friends, or fulfill a childhood dream of learning a musical instrument, I will give you the necessary tools to make your dreams a reality.
