About

Hi! My name is Tai and I absolutely love being a music teacher! I've been playing the violin for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Music Education as well as a certificate in Composition from Berklee. I have been teaching violin and viola for 15 years and have taught in numerous settings such as public schools, private schools, charter schools, music schools, park districts, and privately too. Professionally, I've played with numerous orchestras such as the Kankakee Valley Symphony, Southwest Symphony, Southwest Chicago Symphony, Muscatine Symphony, and the Rize Orchestra. I've also performed with recording artists such as Jamila Woods, Adrian Dunn, and Yemi Alafifuni. I also regularly gig around the Chicagoland area. When I'm not teaching or playing, I enjoy composing and arranging music. I have several published pieces and I love to write for strings. Above all, I love bringing my joy and passion for music to every student that I encounter. I look forward to helping you on your musical journey!

I believe that a good foundation is key to a successful musical journey. Scales, etudes, and developmental exercises will always be prioritized in lessons. I also believe in helping students reach their individual goals! Whether it be learning a specific song, style, or just being comfortable and confident on the instrument, I am here to help! I am a very patient and encouraging teacher and I truly believe that any and everyone can reach their musical goals. I aim to help my students learn well while having fun!
