Talia Dalton
About
Hey, I'm Talia! I've been playing music my whole life, and writing songs for 10 years. My first instrument was piano, but I took a much better liking to guitar, and have almost exclusively stuck with it since then. In my time learning, I've touched on many styles like folk, indie and jazz, eventually adopting my own style influenced by all of them.
Teaching Style
I am currently teaching two students (ages 8-10), and have been working with them for around 2 years. My teaching style is very fun, learning songs and picking patterns to start, and then gradually adding in light theory and guitar technique. My main focus is to make learning the guitar enjoyable and inspiring. I encourage songwriting, experimentation and exploration! I was given the freedom to learn the guitar in this way, and I am now nationally recognized in two countries for singing/songwriting. My students always look forward to our time together and have said so on many occasions! I always listen to my students input, and tailor our lessons to fit them and their interests.
Curriculum
My method for teaching can be described in two words; fun and focus. Embrace the mistakes, enjoy our lessons, learn from hands on experience and take it one session at a time. I like to incorporate mindfulness into our time together, which means taking a quick break if we find ourselves frustrated, and brushing it off with a couple of deep breaths. I tend to make my own content and material specific to the student (chord sheets, guitar activities etc.)
