Hi, I’m Taryna!

Music has been part of my life since I was a child — I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old, and it quickly became one of my favorite ways to express creativity. As an adult, I finally reached a lifelong goal of learning piano as well, which gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to learn a new instrument later in life.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in education, as well as multiple ESL certifications. With over 10 years of teaching experience working in elementary schools, running a music school, and teaching students online, I’ve developed a teaching approach that is both structured and encouraging.

My background as a teacher helps me break down music concepts in a way that makes them clear, fun, and easy to understand, whether you're just starting out or have prior experience.

As a mom and farmer, I value patience, encouragement, and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning and making mistakes. Watching students grow in confidence and discover the joy of making music is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My lessons focus on helping students build strong piano skills while learning to read and understand music.

Many of my students begin with little or no experience and gradually develop the confidence to read sheet music and play a wide variety of songs.

Unlike methods that rely only on memorizing notes or patterns, my lessons help students understand how music works from the ground up, making it easier to continue learning and progressing over time.

We work through a structured curriculum designed to build important skills step-by-step, including note reading, rhythm, technique, and musical expression. Students also have opportunities to play songs they enjoy and request as they continue developing their skills.

What a Typical Lesson Might Include

 Reviewing previous songs and concepts
 Learning new material from the curriculum
 Practicing reading sheet music and developing technique

For younger students, lessons may also include games and creative activities to make learning fun and engaging.

My goal is to help students not only learn piano, but also develop confidence, musical understanding, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
