Teaching Style

My goal is to help you find your unique voice while mastering the technical skills needed for a professional sound. I believe every singer is an individual, so I tailor my approach to your specific goals—whether you’re preparing for a recording session, an audition, or looking to gain professional-level confidence for your voice and performance.

In our lessons, we focus on:

  • Vocal Health & Technique: Building a strong foundation to prevent strain, increase range, and ensure longevity.

  • Vocal Tone & Phrasing: Developing your own unique vocal tone and phrasing to help you stand out from the crowd.

  • Artist Development: Bringing your talents together into a cohesive, undeniable whole that showcases who you are as a performer.

  • Performance & Presence: Learning how to own the stage and connect deeply with your audience.

  • Songs and Styles that Move You: Focusing on songs and styles you love and love to sing.

Whether you are a beginner or an aspiring pro, I provide a supportive, high-energy environment where you can break through barriers and reach your full potential.

Curriculum

My teaching is rooted in my "Vocal Essentials" method, as detailed in my book, Vocal Essentials for the Pop Singer (Hal Leonard). More of a coach and mentor, I train singers to be their best with custom exercises, tracks, and materials specifically tailored to Top 40 pop, R&B, dance, country, indie, rock, electronic genres, and more. I also do audition prep and performance coaching. I have studied with and been mentored by master vocal coaches/producers such as Raz Kennedy (Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra) and coach of Adam Duritz (Counting Crows).
