About

Veronica Kao is a music student at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.  She’s been playing the flute for over a decade and has performed in multiple New England ensembles, as well as internationally in countries like Colombia and Austria.  She has the relevant coursework in music theory and is currently also studying music composition.  In November 2021, she premiered her original piece “Forest Song” at the Palais Corbelli in Vienna, Austria.  She has studied with many flute teachers, including Ellen Bender (2010–2016), Jessica Lizak (2016–2019), Sarah Schettler (2017–2018), Jacqueline DeVoe (2019–Present), Ulrike Anton (2021), and Furugh Karimi (2021).  Kao is able to teach in Mandarin as well as English, and has elementary German and Japanese knowledge.  She is an experienced and dedicated flautist and piccoloist.

I like to start by focusing on tone quality but after getting to know you as a player and a student, I will tailor lessons to your needs.  Lessons will consist of scales and ear training, etudes and exercises, and repertoire.  I am also available for mock auditions or audition preparation.
