Victoria Busby
About
I have been a classical violinist since age 3, and pianist since age 5. I focus on technique and developing a solid base in music theory. I have competed in many local and state competitions ranging from classical, weddings, fiddle, to pageants. The first time I truly fell in love with playing the violin was when I performed the Bach double with my sister for the first time, and it's been a favorite ever since.
Teaching Style
I started teaching when I was 13 years old. I have taught both violin and piano consistently since that time. I prefer teaching beginner/intermediate, because I believe that an advanced musician should be taught by someone with a degree in the field.
Curriculum
The teaching materials that I typically use are the Music for Young Violinists (once student is at an appropriate level), Meuller Rusch technique books, scales, and Suzuki books. I am NOT a Suzuki method teacher, I only use Suzuki books for the excellent compilation and overview of classical music. I use Music Theory for the Successful String Musician to teach theory. Some additional books may be recommended based on interests. Books for beginners may differ.
Credentials & Affiliations
I have been a classical musician for 19 years. I have taken violin classes at a university level, been an orchestra member for many years, and have been teaching music lessons for 9 years.
