Walker Teret is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Baltimore, MD.
He has appeared on stage in 21 countries alongside an impressive list of artists including The Gene Clark No Other Band (with members of Beach House, Fleet Foxes, The Walkmen, and Wye Oak), Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, MATMOS, Lower Dens, Cass McCombs, Scarlett Johansson, Zane Campbell, and many more.
He has also contributed to dozens of albums as a bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, producer, and composer.
He has experience in many genres including jazz, country, old-time, rhythm and blues, rock, disco, and experimental music.
A solid foundation in music theory has led to additional work producing transcriptions, generating MIDI for live performance, tuning pianos, and directing ensembles for musical theater productions. He lives in a little house with his girlfriend and cats where they grow heirloom tomatoes.
Each student is taught according to their own goals and needs.
The journey towards musical excellence is a complex path and always in flux.
I try to be mindful of when a student is ready for new knowledge and when they are still digesting something we've been working on.
I am always ready to discuss topics like music theory, ear training, technique, music history, professional development, etc., but I also believe in budgeting most of the lesson for hands on playing time.
