About
Bassist and composer Wenjun Wu is well-versed in various strains of music, including jazz, improvised music, hip-hop, and pop music. He is based in Boston, MA.
Wenjun pursued a Masters’ Degree from Berklee College’s Global Jazz Institute with a full-tuition scholarship. Study with Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, and Terri Lyne Carrington.
As a composer, he has written and recorded in different genres including Jazz and improvised music. His compositions have been performed internationally at world-class jazz venues such as L’Arrosoir, Crescent Jazz Club (FR), Blockhouse, Bear’s Place(US), JZ Club, and Meeting Jazz Club (CN). He also co-wrote and released an Pop/Hip-Hop album for Moxuan Lee.
As a band leader, Wenjun formed his band Con-seer, who released an EP “Con-seer” in 2014. It ranked high in Netease Music, Xiami Music and Weibo Music Billboard charts. In 2019, he formed his trio, wrote and performed improvised music with poets and live samples.
Wenjun is genuinely excited and passionate to educate as a means of giving back to aspiring musicians. He studies pedagogy during the Master's program, loves to share all knowledge he learned and absorbed. He teaches Jazz, Jazz Improvisation, Pop music, Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop, etc...
