Will Stevens
About
I'm Will, a professional oboist based in Chicago. I am currently in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and have recently appeared with the Peoria Symphony, Elgin Symphony, and Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York City. I am also a doctoral candidate for a DMA in Oboe at the Yale School of Music. I have a Master's of Music from Yale, and a Bachelor of Music from UCLA. I have been teaching oboe privately for 8 years, and am happy to work with students of all skill levels.
Teaching Style
I am enthusiastic about working with students of all ages and skill levels. I integrate every aspect of musicianship into my pedagogy, including music history, music theory, and fundamentals. I focus on giving my students the information and tools for emotionally connect with their instrument and the repertoire they are working on. I am also skilled in oboe repair, reed making, and knife sharpening, so I make sure that the student is not fighting their instrument or reed in any way.
