Xavi
About
I am a violinist and educator based in Barcelona, Spain, with extensive experience as a performer and teacher across leading conservatories, music schools, and orchestras in Europe.
As a violin teacher, I currently work at the Conservatori Professional del Liceu in Barcelona, one of the most respected music institutions in Spain, alongside other conservatory and private teaching positions. I have also been awarded in several national and international competitions, including First Prize at the Higini Anglès Competition and the Barcelona Chamber Music Competition, as well as Second Prize at the Emergents Girona Competition and a Special Mention at the Marianne International Competition.
My artistic training is rooted in the European conservatory tradition, with advanced studies at ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and long-term artistic and pedagogical development under Professor Sergey Fatkulin.
As both performer and educator, I combine a professional orchestral and chamber music career with a strong pedagogical focus. I believe the violin is a tool for developing technical precision, musical intelligence, and personal expression.
My students range from beginners to advanced violinists preparing auditions, exams, and professional entry, and I guide each of them with a structured, demanding, and supportive approach focused on long-term artistic growth.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is structured, personalized, and highly motivating. I adapt each lesson to the student’s goals, personality, and level, making sure the learning process is both disciplined and inspiring.
I focus on building a strong, tension-free technical foundation, developing healthy playing habits, and training students to listen, think, and practice with clarity and independence.
Beyond technique, I help students grow in confidence, musical awareness, and autonomy, while keeping the process engaging and tailored to their personal interests and repertoire.
Curriculum
I combine classical training with modern, flexible approaches, always selecting the materials that best fit each student’s level, personality, and goals. My resources include:
-
Scale and arpeggio systems (Flesch, Galamian, and others) for advanced technical control
-
Etudes and studies (such as Kreutzer, Dont, Mazas, Wohlfahrt, and more) to build solid technique
-
Exercises (Marsick, Dounis, Yost, Sevcik, among others) plus personalized material I design for each student
-
Suzuki method repertoire for beginners, including arrangements of well-known classical and children’s pieces
-
Popular songs and classical masterpieces, depending on the student’s interests
Instead of relying on a single method, I draw from a wide repertoire of possibilities to ensure every student receives the most effective and inspiring path to progress.
