About

Yo Hwan Yoon is an LA-based singer/songwriter, vocal coach, and music producer who has been performing and teaching for about  7 years. Yo Hwan is passionate about teaching voice and spreading positive energy for students willing to become genuine artists. He has worked with artists in the United States and South Korea. He is the vocalist and songwriter of IF, a Los Angeles-based pop band. He writes and produces music for himself, various clients, and various teams he manages. In addition to private contracts, Yoon is currently working for Right Hand Music as head of the music production, the DTLA Music Institute as the senior vocal teacher, and K-pop agency as a main vocal instructor.

I started singing in high school, and I was a huge fan of K-pop music. Then, I began to study voice in my college years, and I began to get classically trained to learn the fundamental vocal techniques because I had some vocal issues I had to resolve. Simultaneously, I started to learn to sing American standard jazz music. Later on, I began to sing pop songs, R&B, and rock songs.
I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with my Bachelor's degree in commercial vocal performance in 2017. I was a part of the jazz vocal ensemble and Christian music vocal ensemble as a tenor. Also, I obtained a master's degree in commercial vocal performance at the California State University of Los Angeles in 2020 during the pandemic.

As a vocal coach, I'm passionate about helping students who are willing to learn vocal techniques and the healthy way of singing and answering their questions and concerns like I had before. Since I started singing, I have gone through many vocal-related conflicts and medical issues. Also, I had numerous vocal-related questions in my mind, which drove me crazy at that moment. However, I kept trying hard to figure out how to develop my vocal skills, and I finally overcame them. Therefore, I truly know how the vocal students feel when they encounter their vocal problems and what they are confused about in terms of vocal techniques. I can tell the exact issues they have by just listening to their voice and providing the most effective solutions right away to build up the solid foundation.

1. Ask what students want to learn through lessons.
2. Evaluate students' singing level and the part they need to work on.
3. Build up the solid foundation(singing from the core, etc...) with vocal exercises(in different vowels).
4. Pick songs and implement the techniques to them.
5. Have fun!
