Hi there! I'm Zach, your guitar, bass, and children’s music education teacher! I'm from Austin, TX and am excited to meet all the creative minds online and in the greater Albuquerque area!
Teaching music is a huge part of my life. I've devoted the last 7 years to teaching private music lessons, 4 of which were spent as an instructor at Band Aid School of Music, the #1 Rock Band Program in the country. There, working alongside some of the most skilled musicians I know, I learned to guide students by adapting to their needs and inspiring a passion for their instrument. Since Band Aid, I’ve continued to grow as a musician and teacher through continuing music education and independent research into education and development.
I spent a year studying music performance and theory in the University of Georgia's Hodgson School of Music, and two years furthering my knowledge of theory and audio engineering at Austin Community College. Through my time in Austin, I played in various bands at events such as a SXSW private party, Austin's New Year at Auditorium Shores, and even on a float at the Children Giving to Children Thanksgiving parade!
My experience ranges from older toddlers exploring sound to established adult musicians looking to dive into a new style! I've even helped some of my younger students' parents finally pick up that old guitar! I specialize in music theory, rock instrumentation, and elementary exploratory sound familiarity lessons, and I love to learn and teach anything my students want to explore.
I've had college-level music instruction, and worked in more formal teaching environments, but I believe that one method will NOT fit all students. Each student's lessons will be structured around their preferences, strengths, abilities, and best learning styles. I've built teaching skills suited to students needing tactile learning, active/exploratory learning, full understanding, and traditional memorization, and look forward to learning more! Seeing as every student is different, I don't have recomended student texts. I believe education should be flexible and accessible, so any texts I suggest will be free and tailored to you!
