About
I am a professional touring, recording, and composing musician offering lessons in guitar, percussion, composition, and music theory. I have a BS in music from Skidmore College and have been teaching for over fifteen years. I live in Greenfield, MA and am happy to travel anywhere within reasonable striking distance, or to teach out of my home studio. I am set up for online lessons as well, and have found them to be easy and productive!
My favorite teachers have always been people who are focused on their craft and excited about sharing it. I've been a musician for more than 25 years. I've spent hours in recording studios, months on the road, I've played small coffee shops and large festival stages. I bring lots of real world experience to my lessons.
I received a wonderful music education from Skidmore College. I studied Jazz and Composition, played drums in the big band and orchestra, composed a 40 piece rock opera for my senior recital. I'm well versed in theory and arranging, and have always utilized the academic side of music to further my own, and my students creativity.
I am currently touring internationally as a solo performer. I play finger-style guitar, lap steel guitar, and sing original songs.
Thanks for your interest. Please feel free to message me with any questions about teaching style, subject matter, or any other questions you may have.

Teaching Style
I am a goal oriented but relaxed teacher. I have lots of experience working with different ages and learning types, and I've found it best to approach each student with an open mind. I put a high premium on having fun! I don't have a specific agenda- I'm most interested in teaching you what you want to learn.
Curriculum
Varies from student to student, but may include:
Guitar Technique
-Learning Chords, Scales, and Songs
-Learning the fret board
-Learning melodies and solos
-Proper technique for fingering scales and chord shapes. Proper technique for strumming, using a pick, and finger-style playing
MUSIC THEORY
-Chords, Scales, Harmony, Song Structure
-I teach music theory as a way to increase musical vocabulary. We can use it as much or as little as we need to.
SONGS
- I like to use songs that the student enjoys rather than an etude from a book. It's more fun to use a Bob Dylan or a Pink Floyd song as a platform for learning technique and theory. Plus at the end of the lesson you have a song that you actually want to play!
