Zane Mallett

Zane Mallett is the Principal Harpist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as Guest Principal Harp with the San Francisco, Oregon, Utah, Buffalo, and Rochester Symphonies, and has also performed with ensembles including the Toronto, Charlotte, and Winnipeg Symphonies. Before joining the Hawaii Symphony, Zane served as Principal Harp of the Baton Rouge Symphony.

In 2025, he was named winner of the Corcoran Concerto Competition. He has been a featured soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and Atlantic Music Festival. He has spent summers at the Aspen, Spoleto, Pierre Monteux, and Round Top music festivals. 

Zane holds degrees in Harp Performance and Music Education from Southern Methodist University, Rice University, and The Royal Conservatory of Music. He has been taught by world renowned performers and pedagogues Naoko Nakamura, Paula Page, and Judy Loman.

I believe that everyone is capable of having meaningful and enriching experiences through music. As a teacher, my goal is to provide each student with a strong technical foundation that allows them to play with musicality and ease. 

I try my best to allow students to play as much as they can during lessons and focus on offering easy to understand feedback. 

Harp lessons are open to students of all levels. Whatever your goals may be, I strive to create an inclusive, supportive environment where you can grow, explore, and connect with music in a way that supports your goals.
