About

Hello,

I'm Adrian and I'm a Romanian composer and teacher. My artistic work spans contemporary concert music, theatre, film, radio drama, video games, and electronic music, combining acoustic instruments and traditional musical languages with contemporary composition, electronic sound, and experimental approaches. I hold a PhD in Music Composition from the National University of Music Bucharest, completed in 2018. I previously obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Ovidius University of Constanța in 2013 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the same university in 2009. My academic training includes composition, orchestration, counterpoint, music theory, and instrumental practice. I also participated in international courses and academies focused on contemporary music, film music, sound, and interdisciplinary artistic practices, including Mixtur Barcelona, San Marino International Summer Music Courses, the Royaumont Academy of Transcultural Music, and the Academy of Contemporary Music Lucerne. As a composer, I have created concert music (premiered at Poznan Contemporary Music Festival, Meridian Festival, San Marino International Summer Music Courses), theatre (in plays premiered at State Theatre of Constanta, Youth Theatre of Piatra Neamt, Long March Space Museum in Beijing, Teatro Astragali in Lecce), film (one of my productions "Veni, vidi, fugi: I Came, I Saw, I Fled - has been awarded at Arte Non Stop Festival in Argentina, Montecatini Film Festival in Italy, Sydney Indie Fest, Jaipur International Film Festival in India and I got nominated for best music at Sydney Indie Fest) , radio drama (i wrote the music for 18 radio dramas premiered at Radio Constanta) and video games. My portfolio includes music and sound design for more than 30 theatre productions, five short films, 18 radio dramas, ten video games and over 50 pop or EDM songs.

I have a full tenure teaching at Ovidius University Constanta, where I have been teaching for 12 years: harmony, Renaissance vocal polyphony, Bach's counterpoint, music theory, orchestration and sight reading in different clefs.

In addition, I have been giving private lessons (online and face to face) for the last six years with great results with students across the world.

Teaching Style

My composition lessons are tailored to each student's level, experience, and creative goals, whether you are a beginner interested in learning the fundamentals of songwriting and composition or an experienced musician looking to develop a stronger personal style and create music for film, theatre, contemporary music, or video games.

I cover the essential elements of composition, including melody, harmony, rhythm, form, orchestration, instrumentation, and arrangement, while adapting the approach to the student's chosen musical direction. For songwriting, we can explore melody, lyrics, chord progressions, and song structure; for film, theatre, and video games, we focus on creating music that supports storytelling, atmosphere, characters, dramatic action, and interactive experiences.

I also integrate ear training, analysis, improvisation, and practical composition exercises, encouraging students to develop their own musical voice rather than simply following predefined formulas. Lessons can include working directly on the student's original pieces, from the initial idea and sketch through arrangement, orchestration, notation, and digital production.

Lessons are interactive and project-based, with a strong focus on real-world creative practice and constructive feedback, helping students turn their musical ideas into complete, expressive compositions.
