About

Hi, I'm Alex, a pianist, composer, and music educator with a passion for helping students discover the joy of playing music.

I have been connected with the piano from a young age, and over the years I have developed my musical journey through performance, composition, formal music studies, and audio engineering. I completed Trinity College London Grade 6 Piano with Merit and later studied music at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK. I also completed a Diploma in Audio Engineering from KM Music College, Chennai.

For nearly 6 years, I have taught piano and music online and have had the opportunity to work with 100+ students between the ages of 5 and 70, including students from different countries and backgrounds. This experience has taught me that every student learns differently.

My teaching approach is therefore personalized, encouraging, and practical. I don't believe learning piano should only be about playing notes correctly. I want students to understand the music, develop good technique, improve their musicality, gain confidence, and most importantly, enjoy the process.

Depending on the student's goals and level, lessons can include piano technique, chords, accompaniment, music theory, contemporary music, playing songs, improvisation, composition, and developing musical expression.

For younger students, I focus on making lessons engaging and enjoyable while building strong musical foundations. For adults and more experienced learners, I can adapt lessons toward their personal interests, whether that means learning songs, improving piano skills, understanding harmony, accompanying themselves or exploring composition.

As a composer myself, I also encourage students to be creative rather than simply reproduce what is written in front of them. I believe every student can develop their own musical voice.

My goal is simple: to help each student become more confident, musical, creative, and connected to their instrument.

I look forward to making music together!

Teaching Style

My teaching style is friendly, patient, and personalized. I adapt each lesson to the student's age, level, interests, and goals.

Lessons can include piano technique, songs, chords, music theory, improvisation, composition, and musical expression. My goal is to help students play confidently, understand music, and enjoy learning piano.

Curriculum

I use a step-by-step and student-focused approach, adapting lessons to each student's level, age, interests, and goals. I combine practical piano playing with basic music theory, technique, chords, songs, and musical expression. I encourage students to understand what they play rather than simply memorize it.

I don't follow one fixed textbook for every student. I choose materials based on the student's age, level, and goals. Depending on the student, I may use Trinity/graded piano materials, beginner piano books, sheet music, chord charts, and personalized exercises and songs.
