Christian Betancourt

I was born in Mexico City, Mexico. At the age of 10, I was deeply inspired by rock giants such as Santana, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc. I took lessons and participated in as many concerts as possible all throughout grade school. Upon finishing high school, he began formal studies in music theory and production. Later, I became the musical director for the Pop-Rock group Luna Postal, and toured on different venues around Mexico.

I moved to Boston on 2013 to attend Berklee College of Music. While attending, I also performed in many of the city's fantastic venues, and had the privilege of polishing his craft in professional studio recordings. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2016. He remained for an additional year in Boston, performed in live shows, and caught a unique opportunity to work one semester as an audiovisual producer at Harvard University.

In 2018, Christian returned home to Mexico City, where he currently works on teaching, writing new music, video projects and collaborates with local & international artists.

I believe in connecting theory and practice, using meaningful exercises that are musical and inspiring, and just the right amount of difficulty. I focus on nailing down the basics; scales, chords, harmonic concepts, and then focusing on more external aspects such as rhythm, feel, and sound quality.

It's a priority for my students to be able to learn their favorite songs, while also being mindful of the theoretical concepts behind them, and using these experiences for their own growth.
