About

With over 22 years of experience playing guitar, writing songs, and performing in blues, Americana, Nashville fingerstyle, rock, pop, and jazz, I help students develop the skills and confidence they need to express their own unique, artistic voice on the guitar and in their songwriting. I currently live in Nashville, TN, pursuing my dream of being a professional guitarist and songwriter while helping others find fulfillment through their own music.

I graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in May, 2026 with a degree in Professional Music with emphases in Guitar, Songwriting, and Music Production. During my time at Berklee, I performed in acoustic fingerstyle ensembles, pop/rock ensembles, and was featured in both the Pro Music Showcase and the Arranging for Songwriters Showcase during the Fall Semester of 2025. I also provided guitar session work for other students in genres ranging from jazz all the way to hip-hop.

In addition to my time at Berklee, I have taught guitar at music and arts camps for kids at Celebration Church in North Carolina and on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I provided session work as the guitarist for a composition featured in the indie short film Our Father, which won the award for Best Sound & Music at the Festival for Romance in 2020. I am currently teaching guitar to beginners online as I continue to work on my own musicianship.

Teaching Style

I like to work with my students to build a path forward together based on their goals and interests, rather than taking everyone through the same prescriptive curriculum. Our focus is on creativity, fun, and developing confidence. Exercises, ear training, and music theory are all in service to a song, rather than being independent academic exercises.

While unconventional, my years spent living in Colorado working with horses and studying psychotherapy under Duey Freeman, founder of the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies, inform how I work with my students as well. Learning music and songwriting is a vulnerable process that I don't take lightly. I teach my students how to work with the emotions and limiting beliefs that arise in their music practice, right alongside the mechanics of how to play, for a more holistic approach to music education.

Curriculum

Teaching Method

I teach based on students' goals rather than a predefined curriculum. We focus on learning songs, writing original music, and ear training and music theory in support of greater creative expression rather than as academic exercises in isolation. We also work on strategies for building a sustainable practice habit, addressing emotional blockages and limiting beliefs that come up along the way, and staying organized while tracking progress.
