Conrado Blua
About
I'm Conrado Blua, a classical guitarist and teacher from Argentina. I hold a degree in Guitar Performance from the National University of the Arts (UNA), where I'm currently completing my Licenciatura in Music and my teaching degree.
I've received awards in national guitar competitions, including First Prize at the Anido Youth Guitar Competition and First Prize in both the instrumental soloist and instrumental ensemble categories at Saldán Folklore Joven. I also received third prize at the Hurlingham Guitar Competition, performing with chamber orchestra accompaniment. I was selected for an Erasmus+ scholarship to study with guitarist Alberto Mesirca in Italy.
My musical background combines classical guitar, Argentine folk music, and tango. I enjoy helping students develop their technique, deepen their musical understanding, and discover their own way of expressing themselves through the guitar.
I teach in English and Spanish, and I welcome students with different levels of experience and musical goals.
Teaching Style
My lessons are one-on-one and tailored to each student's experience, interests, and goals.
Whether you're just starting out, returning to the guitar after a break, developing your classical technique, exploring Argentine music, or preparing for an audition or exam, we'll build a plan that works for you.
I believe that playing well involves much more than getting the notes right. We'll work on tone, phrasing, rhythm, musical expression, and a relaxed, efficient technique.
You can bring pieces you love, and I'll also suggest repertoire that helps you grow as a musician. My goal is to help you play with greater confidence, freedom, and musical understanding while enjoying the learning process.
In your first lesson, we'll discuss your goals, I'll listen to you play if you have previous experience, and we'll identify practical next steps for your musical development.
Curriculum
I follow a progressive and flexible approach, adapting the material and pace to each student's needs.
Depending on your goals, our lessons may include:
-
Technique and sound: posture, right- and left-hand coordination, tone production, articulation, and efficient movement.
-
Repertoire and interpretation: learning pieces step by step while exploring phrasing, dynamics, musical structure, and expressive possibilities.
-
Music reading: developing confidence with standard notation and understanding how the score relates to the instrument.
-
Music theory and harmony: practical concepts applied directly to the guitar and to the music you want to play.
-
Argentine folk music and tango: exploring characteristic rhythms, styles, repertoire, and guitar techniques.
-
Preparation for auditions and exams: organizing practice, addressing technical challenges, and developing a convincing musical interpretation.
I provide sheet music or tablature, as appropriate, along with supplementary materials such as PDFs and recordings to support your practice between lessons.
I recommend books, editions, and exercises according to each student's level and interests. Rather than following a rigid program, we'll build a structured learning path with clear goals, leaving room for curiosity and musical discovery.
