About
Hi! I am a Piano Teacher with over 5 years of experience in teaching piano to students of different ages and skill levels. I have completed my Trinity Grade 8 Piano examination with Distinction, giving me a strong foundation in both practical performance and music theory.I am also a organist/keyboardist in Fathima Shrine in Chennai,India and have performed in classical music concerts organised by them,so I have a fairly good knowledge about live performance and I can also help and guide students in accompanying a singer, playing with a band and solo piano performance.Besides that, I have over 5 years of teaching experience at San Maria Music School, where I have worked with students at different levels and helped them develop their piano skills. I have also been giving one-to-one private lessons online for several students mostly based in London through zoom since covid,so I have a fair knowldge and understanding of the platforms and specific devices required to give the best possible experience.
I try to understand each student’s individual interests, strengths, learning style, and goals, and tailor my lessons accordingly. Whether you are a complete beginner, learning for personal enjoyment, or preparing for a Trinity examination, I aim to make each lesson productive, engaging, and enjoyable.
Beyond simply teaching students how to play pieces, my goal is to help them develop into well-rounded musicians. I focus on building a strong understanding of rhythm, technique, musical expression, chords, and music theory while encouraging creativity and confidence at the piano. I also cater to the needs of each student while following the Trinity examination curriculum and requirements where applicable. Ultimately, I hope to inspire my students to develop a genuine love for music and enjoy their journey of learning and making music.
Teaching Style
I try to cater to the individual needs, interests, and learning styles of each student, while ensuring that they develop a strong foundation in piano playing. I believe that understanding a student’s goals and abilities is important in creating a learning experience that is both effective and enjoyable.
At the same time, I focus on the Trinity Piano examination curriculum and its requirements, helping students prepare systematically for their exams. This includes developing their technique, musical understanding, sight-reading, theory, and performance skills according to the expectations of their grade.
My aim is to teach in a way that is engaging, encouraging, and enjoyable rather than making lessons feel like a routine or obligation. I want students to not only work towards their Trinity examinations but also develop a genuine interest in music and grow into confident and well-rounded musicians.
Curriculum
I primarily conduct my piano lessons through Zoom and Google Meet, providing students with a convenient and flexible way to learn from home. I use these platforms to conduct interactive lessons and guide students through their learning at their own pace.
For the learning materials, I provide PDFs of the required books whenever possible, or share links to purchase the recommended books from e-commerce websites. It would be helpful if you have access to a piano or keyboard for practising between lessons and are able to print the PDFs I provide when necessary.
Other than having access to a piano or keyboard and the ability to use the provided learning materials, there are no specific prerequisites required to begin lessons. Beginners are welcome, and I will guide you through the necessary fundamentals based on your current level and learning goals.
