About

I am a professional Canadian soprano with a Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Alberta, and a Diploma in Theatre Arts from MacEwan University.

I have been performing and coaching singers for several years, working with students in classical singing and musical theatre. My own experience as a performer has taken me through opera, concert work, contemporary music, and musical theatre in Canada and Europe.

Alongside my performance training, I completed Master’s research on acting techniques for singers, exploring practical ways to help performers make stronger choices, connect with their text and music, and feel more present on stage.

I am friendly, patient, and practical in my teaching. I want students to leave each lesson with something they can actually use in their next practice session or performance, whether they are just starting out, preparing an audition, or working towards a professional goal.

Teaching Style

My lessons combine classical vocal technique with acting and performance coaching. As a professional soprano with a Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance and a background in Theatre Arts, I help singers develop both their voice and their ability to communicate on stage.

I adapt each lesson to the student and their goals. We might work on vocal technique, repertoire, diction, interpretation, audition preparation, or stage presence. For singers preparing for a specific performance or audition, we can also work through the piece in detail and develop clear dramatic and musical choices.

A major part of my teaching comes from my research into acting techniques for singers. I use action verbs, objectives, physical choices, text, breath, and musical phrasing to help singers move away from simply trying to “feel” something and instead have something concrete to do in performance. This can be especially useful if you tend to overthink while performing or feel disconnected from the dramatic side of your music.

Lessons are suitable for beginners through advanced singers, including classical singers, opera singers, musical theatre performers, and singers preparing for auditions, competitions, recitals, or conservatory applications.

You are welcome to bring a song, aria, monologue, or audition piece you are currently working on, or we can choose repertoire together based on your goals.

Curriculum

Students should bring the sheet music or score for the piece they would like to work on. Digital PDFs are welcome.

For classical singers, I recommend having access to a reliable edition of your repertoire, including the original text and an English translation where applicable. For audition or performance coaching, students can also bring their monologue, scene, audition material, or any notes they have been given by a director or teacher.

No specific textbook is required. I will recommend repertoire, exercises, or other resources based on your individual goals and level.
