About
Baroque & Classical Singing Coach – French Pronunciation & Historical French
I offer two areas of teaching, which can also be combined depending on your needs:
• French for Singers – Pronunciation & Diction
My lessons are targeted for singers and musicians interested in French repertoire, focusing on diction, pronunciation and phonetics (IPA) for opera arias, melodies and choir excerpts. I teach pronunciation of modern French , historically informed French Baroque, historically reconstructed French and historically informed Latin French.
• Baroque & Classical Singing – Technique & Ornamentation
I offer lessons of classical vocal technique, classical and baroque repertoire and Baroque ornamentation, adapted to the student’s voice, level and musical goals.
• About me
I am a French professional singer specialized in Baroque and classical singing. I studied at Notre-Dame de Paris and I am currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Baroque Singing at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris. I also graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Singing in the Netherlands, where I studied singing pedagogy and developed my knowledge of the voice, breathing and vocal technique.
I perform in different projects, both as a soloist and ensemble member.
Teaching Style
French for Singers – Pronunciation & Diction
If you are an English-speaking singer interested in French repertoire, we can work step by step on the text and the music:
• Translation and understanding of the text — exploring the meaning, context and expression of the words
• Phonetics and pronunciation — working on vowels, consonants, syllables, laisons and French diction
• Phrasing and language — understanding how the French language influences musical phrasing and expression
• Repertoire selection — I can help you choose French repertoire for recitals, auditions, competitions or practice
• Baroque & Classical Singing – Technique & Ornamentation
I like to get to know my students and their needs in the lesson, and always take time to discuss their health and mental space to adapt the best I can to their needs.
Lesson plan:
• body awareness and breathing (posture, stretching, relaxing exercises, followed by breathing technique exercises for releasing tension, diaphragm activity and air flow)
• vocal exercises (voiced consonances, vowel placement, resonance, coloraturas, sound and comfortability)
• repertoire (vocal technique for opera, lied, oratorio, selection of repertoire for auditions, competitions, recitals, practice)
•pronunciation of Italian, French and German *if needed
•baroque ornementation *if needed
