Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, French is my native language. I'm specialized in adult teaching and critical care nursing.
From 1999 to 2017, I worked as a pediatric critical care nurse and as a teacher/instructor for critical care and neonatal nurses educational programs.
I have Swiss degrees in nursing, pediatric, neonatal and critical care and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in adult pedagogy/teaching, as well as an RN license in the US.
Having learned multiple second languages, such as English, Italian, Spanish and German, I'm very aware of the process of learning a new language and therefore sensitive to building my students’ confidence.
As a French speaking family of four moving to the USA seven years ago, first in Virginia now in Connecticut, French is our main language at home. Our family goal is to make sure, our now adult children keep the French language fluent while being bilingual English and French.
In 2017, I started as a French teacher substitute in Richmond VA at St Catherine’s Middle and High School. I enjoyed it very much, but I wanted to teach adults as it's my expertise. Therefore, I started teaching online individual French lessons in 2018 and it's been my passion since then! Many students have been taking lessons with me since the beginning and now I'm lucky to have a roster of a little bit more than 50 students, that I enjoy meeting every week or so depending on their working schedule. Teaching Style
Finding the best way to learn depending on who you are and what goals you have is one of my teaching style. I like to provide a dynamic, fun, safe and customized learning environment to my students.
I teach French to adults and college students as I’m certified in adult teaching. I provide tailored lessons in a positive environment to gain confidence and to enjoy learning and speaking French.
I focus on the student’s need and level to make sure they have the best experience.
I love to teach and also to share my knowledge of the French language and culture. To achieve my students' goals, I use my pedagogical background and a good sense of humor. I enjoy understanding my students' needs and strengths to make sure they get the best learning experience, in a friendly and non-judgmental environment.
Curriculum
Over the years, I built a whole program for my students. I wanted something that would progress logically, be modern, efficient, fun and not unnecessarily complicated. I couldn't find something in existing programs and textbooks, so I made it. It's made to be comprehensive, practical and allowing the student to really use and understand French when in a French speaking environment. I keep on enriching it while adapting it to my students' reviews and questions.
I have also written short novels in a comprehensive French that I give to my students in addition to providing them all the material necessary for their lessons at no additional cost.
I can bring vocabulary, grammar, verbs, conversation as well as cultural aspects and language differences from different French speaking countries, such as Switzerland, France, Quebec and Belgium.

In 1999, I graduated with a bachelor of Nursing from the Geneva school of Nursing and the Red Cross and a certificate in "Relational Caring and Communicating: the Gordon Method" from the Swiss Geneva University Hospital.
From 1999 to 2007 and then from 2010 to 2017, I worked as a nurse and nurse instructor in the critical care unit at the Swiss Geneva University Hospital.
In 2002, I graduated with a certificate in Critical and Neonatal Care at the Swiss Geneva University Hospital, from the Swiss Nursing Association.
In 2006, I graduated with a Lactation Consultant Diploma from the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
From 2007 to 2010, I worked as a clinical research assistant at the Sainte Justine University Hospital in Montreal, Canada.
In 2010, I certified in Clinical Ethics and Clinical Research Program from the Sainte Justine University Hospital in Montreal, Canada.
In 2014, I certified in Adult Education through the Swiss Geneva University Advanced Studies Program and in Computer Science from the European Computer Driving License.
In 2017 and 2018, I worked as a French substitute teacher at Sainte Catherine's middle and high school in Richmond, VA.
From 2018 to now, I'm teaching full time French online individual lessons.
Since 2020, I'm a Registered Nurse licensed through Virginia Department of Health Professions. Certification obtained by NCLEX examination
