Gleb Gladkov
About
I am Gleb Gladkov, a professional violinist, viola da gamba player and music educator based in Belgium. I hold a Master’s degree in violin from the Royal Conservatory of Mons (ARTS²), and my work combines classical violin performance with historical interpretation, chamber music and improvisation.
In 2025–2026, I taught violin as a substitute teacher at the Conservatoire Arthur Grumiaux in Charleroi. I also have experience in private music teaching and have given masterclasses in Belgium and Italy. As a co-founder of the early music ensemble Cappella Conventi, I regularly explore Baroque repertoire and historically informed performance. My other artistic projects bring me into contact with folk traditions and twentieth-century music.
I particularly enjoy helping adult beginners, musicians returning to the violin and developing players who want a more confident technique and a deeper musical understanding. I teach in English, French and Russian.
Teaching Style
My teaching begins with the individual musician: their experience, goals, musical interests and the challenges they encounter when playing.
We work on sound production, intonation, bow control, coordination and ease of movement. I believe that technical progress should serve musical expression from the very beginning. Rather than giving students a long list of disconnected exercises, I focus on clear priorities and practical ways to improve between lessons.
For students interested in historical performance, I also teach Baroque articulation, ornamentation, phrasing, stylistic awareness and introductory improvisation. We can explore how knowledge of early music influences the interpretation of both historical and later repertoire.
Each lesson is adapted to the student’s level and usually ends with a focused practice plan. My aim is to help students become more independent, attentive and expressive musicians.
