About

Since graduating from Samford University with a BFA in Musical Theatre, I have worked professionally in the Atlanta area as a musical theatre performer, voice coach, and teaching artist. I have worked with theatres such as The Alliance, The ZACH Theatre, Interlakes Summer Theatre, Lexington Children's Theatre, and many other companies based in Atlanta. My experience as a professional singer and actor gives me the ability to give student's industry expertise, while my work with all ages in education allows me to meet students where they are at.

Teaching Style

My three main pillars of voice lessons are to allow students to take up space with their voices, maintain vocal health through proper technique, and instruct lessons from a mindful approach. I believe voice lessons should be a judgement free zone, and that good work can only begin if the student feels comfortable with making mistakes and putting themselves out there. Sometimes students may "fail" and voice crack in lessons, but the only way to improve is to be wrong and strong at times with a trusted instructor. I also try to help preserve vocal health and encourage singers to sing in a safe way. Although I am not a doctor, there are singing strategies I can equip singers with to keep their human instruments from being further damaged from improper technique. Lastly, I help students find the tools they need by guiding lessons from a mindful approach. I will often as questions, such as "Where did that feel in your body?", "How did that feel to sing it from this approach versus when you initially sang?", or "You sang this verse differently, what were you thinking of to make that sound?". I believe that professional singers are ones who are able to think critically while they are singing in order to make educated steps to perform the way they desire to. If singers are able to realize what steps they took to make the sounds they want, they will be able to repeat those steps when they leave the lesson space. Ultimately, my goal in voice lessons is to give the tools my students need for when I am not there.

I have taught all ages and from all different levels of experience. The students who are the best fit for my lessons are the ones who are passionate about singing and want to work hard in lessons, but also outside of the lesson space. If that sounds like you, I am excited to meet you!
