I am an American professional trumpeter and educator with more than 30 years of orchestral experience. Since 2007, I have served as Principal Trumpet of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa in Mexico

My teaching is grounded in extensive professional orchestral experience and a simple principle: technique must always serve the music. Lessons focus on developing a beautiful, centered sound; efficient breathing; flexibility; articulation; range; endurance; musical phrasing; and dependable performance under pressure.

I work with serious students of different levels, from developing players who need a strong technical foundation to advanced trumpeters preparing for auditions, orchestral performances, recitals, or university study. Every student receives an individualized approach based on their present playing and personal goals.

Rather than relying on quick fixes, I help students understand how and why the trumpet works. We identify unnecessary tension, strengthen essential fundamentals, and create a practical practice routine that produces consistent progress.

I have many years of experience teaching privately and at the university level. My approach is demanding but patient, honest, and supportive. The objective is not simply to play more notes—it is to become a more confident, thoughtful, and expressive musician.

Lessons are available in English or Spanish.

My teaching style is direct, patient, and highly individualized. I listen carefully to each student’s playing, identify the underlying cause of a problem, and explain solutions in clear, practical language.

I believe in high standards without creating unnecessary pressure. Students are encouraged to experiment, ask questions, and understand what they are doing rather than simply imitate instructions. We work patiently and methodically, while always keeping the larger musical purpose in mind.

Lessons are supportive but honest. I want students to leave each session knowing what improved, what still needs attention, and exactly how to practice it. My goal is to help each player become increasingly confident, independent, and expressive.
