About
I am a violinist and music educator currently studying Violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). I received my early and advanced violin training in China and have been studying and performing in Vienna for several years.
In addition to modern violin, I have specialized in Baroque violin and historically informed performance. My musical experience includes orchestral and chamber music projects in Europe, as well as collaborations and projects involving internationally renowned musicians such as Marin Alsop and Jordi Savall.
I teach violin, Baroque violin, music theory and ear training to students of different ages and levels, from beginners to advanced students preparing for auditions and entrance examinations.
I am particularly interested in helping students develop both a secure technical foundation and a strong sense of musical expression. My lessons are adapted to each student’s individual level, goals and musical interests.
Lessons are available online in English, German or Mandarin Chinese.
Teaching Style
My teaching combines technical training, musical expression and an understanding of musical style.
I work on the fundamental aspects of violin playing, including posture, bow technique, intonation, rhythm, articulation and sound production. At the same time, I believe that technical exercises should always have a clear musical purpose.
I pay close attention to phrasing, articulation, dynamics, character and stylistic details. For students working on Baroque and Classical repertoire, I can also introduce principles of historically informed performance and help them develop a deeper understanding of the music.
For beginners, I provide a clear and structured approach to help them establish good playing habits from the beginning. For intermediate and advanced students, I focus more on interpretation, sound, technical efficiency and individual musical expression.
For students preparing for auditions or entrance examinations, lessons can be tailored to repertoire preparation, musical analysis, ear training, music theory and audition preparation.
My aim is to help students become not only technically confident violinists, but also independent and expressive musicians.
Curriculum
My lessons are adapted to each student’s age, level and personal goals. Whether you are starting the violin for the first time, returning to the instrument after a break, or already have some experience, I will adjust the lessons to suit you.
Lessons can include basic technique, scales and exercises, reading music, repertoire, rhythm, intonation and musical expression. I also like to explain things clearly and practically, so that students understand what they are doing and can practise effectively on their own.
I do not follow one fixed textbook for every student. Instead, I choose appropriate exercises and pieces according to the student’s level and interests. If you already have a book or pieces that you would like to study, we can also work with them.
For children and beginners, I focus on building good playing habits while keeping lessons enjoyable and encouraging. For more experienced students, I can provide more detailed work on technique, interpretation and repertoire.
I also offer lessons in music theory and ear training, and can help students prepare for auditions or entrance examinations when needed.
