João Vicente Ribeiro Marinho

Hi! I'm João, a professional guitarist and music teacher from Brazil with a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and over 11 years of experience as a musician and private teacher.

I have been teaching private guitar lessons since 2015, working with students of different ages and skill levels. In 2023, I also taught guitar at Escola Melódica music school, and in 2026 I taught at Escola Movimento Musical Music School. My teaching approach is personalized, patient, and structured around each student's goals, interests, and learning pace.

Alongside teaching, I have an extensive professional performance background. I performed at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and at Teatro Brigitte Blair twice in 2025. I also performed at Teatro do Tijuca Tênis Clube in 2025. I was a guitarist with UFR Jazz, the jazz ensemble of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and I was also a guitarist with the Elise Tom Orchestra, conducted by Patrícia Lucas.

Have you tried learning guitar before but felt stuck? Are you a complete beginner? Or are you looking for a patient teacher for your child? You're in the right place! I create clear, engaging lessons that help students develop practical guitar skills while also building a solid foundation in music theory, technique, rhythm, and musicianship. I also specialize in teaching children, creating fun and engaging lessons that help young students stay motivated while developing strong musical skills.

Whether you want to play your favorite songs, improve your technique, learn music theory, develop your improvisation skills, or simply enjoy making music, I'll help you reach your goals step by step.

Book a trial lesson, and let's start your musical journey together!

My lessons are tailored to each student's goals and experience level. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to improve your improvisation, music theory, harmony, rhythm, or technique, I will create a structured learning plan designed specifically for you.
