Kathryne Kilby
About
Kathryne is a current conservatory student at Mannes School of music, studying under Jon Manasse. She graduated high school from University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2025. Prior to her collegiate studies, Kathryne held principal positions in the Winston Salem youth Symphony, Winston Salem youth philharmonic, UNC school of the arts student premieres orchestra, Appalachian youth orchestra, Winston salem civic orchestra, UNC school of the arts wind ensemble, Brevard college wind ensemble, and Wachovia winds. She also held section clarinet positions in her all district honors band as well as her state's honor band. Kathryne also enjoys performing in chamber group settings. Since 2024, she has performed in 7 chamber groups.
Kathryne has studied clarinet under Jon Manasse, Oskar-Espina Ruiz, and Sydney Davis. She's attended masterclasses held by Charles Niedich, Anthony Mcgill, Oskar-Espina Ruiz, and Andy Hudson.
In addition to her performance experience, Kathryne is also a Clarinet repair technician. She started repairing clarinets in 2022. She has also been teaching private lessons since 2020.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is balanced, thoughtful, and student focused. I tailor my teaching method to specially fit each student's individuality. I work well with students of all experience level and only ask that students come prepared and enthusiastic!
