María Ezquiaga
About
I have over 20 years of experience as a professional singer, songwriter, guitarist, performer, and voice teacher. Throughout my career, I have released three solo albums and led the Argentine indie band Rosal for 17 years, recording five studio albums, two live DVDs, and two EPs.
I have performed at festivals, concert venues, and cultural institutions across Argentina, and have collaborated with artists including Axel Krygier, Rosario Bléfari, Pablo Dacal, Lucas Martí, and Mono Fontana. I also composed and recorded the original score for the feature film Lxs mentirosxs, which was selected for the Short Film Series at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
As a teacher, I work with singers of different ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to professional musicians. My lessons combine healthy vocal technique, ear training, musicality, interpretation, and creativity. I help students develop confidence, expand their vocal skills, and discover their own artistic voice.
As a voice teacher, María works with singers of all levels, combining solid vocal technique with musical interpretation, ear training, creativity, and artistic expression. Her approach helps students develop a healthy, expressive voice while discovering their own musical identity.
Teaching Style
My teaching approach is based on the idea that vocal technique is a tool for musical expression, not an end in itself. Every student has a unique voice, and my goal is to help them develop healthy vocal habits while discovering their own artistic identity.
Lessons are tailored to each student's goals and may include:
- Healthy vocal technique and breath support
- Vocal warm-ups and exercises
- Ear training and pitch development
- Rhythm and musicality
- Song interpretation and phrasing
- Expanding vocal range and confidence
- Songwriting and creativity (for students who are interested)
I work with a wide range of musical styles, including pop, indie, folk, rock, and singer-songwriter repertoire.
Curriculum
My lessons are personalized and designed around each student's goals, musical background, and experience level. I believe that vocal technique should always serve musical expression, so we work on developing a healthy, flexible, and expressive voice through repertoire that is meaningful to the student.
Depending on the student's needs, lessons may include vocal technique, breathing, ear training, rhythm, vocal agility, interpretation, improvisation, songwriting, and performance skills. I encourage students to bring songs they love, while also suggesting repertoire that supports their vocal and artistic development.
Rather than following a single method or textbook, I combine exercises and concepts from different pedagogical approaches with my own experience as a professional performer, recording artist, and teacher. When appropriate, I provide customized exercises, recordings, and sheet music to support practice between lessons.
