Mariia Besklubenko

I am a professional violinist, music educator, and tagelharpa player with over 12 years of teaching experience. I graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and have been playing the violin since I was three years old.

My professional experience includes classical, baroque, traditional and folk music. I have performed with professional orchestras and ensembles including Persimfans, Rosarium and Collegium Musicum and I am the founder of the slavic folk group Istók and music school "Istók Music School".

I teach violin, tagelharpa (the scandinavian bowed lyre), music theory, solfeggio, ear training, harmony and piano. I work with both children and adults, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians.

I believe that learning an instrument should be both serious and enjoyable. My lessons are adapted to each student’s goals, interests and level. I focus not only on technique and accuracy but also on musical understanding, creativity and developing your own sound.

For tagelharpa students we can explore basic playing technique, bowing, rhythm, traditional nordic melodies, playing by ear, improvisation and different approaches to folk music. No previous musical experience is required.

I teach in English, Russian, and Ukrainian and offer online lessons.

My teaching style is structured, attentive, and adapted to each student’s individual goals, interests and level.

For beginners - I focus on building a comfortable relationship with the instrument from the very beginning: posture, technique, sound production, rhythm, music reading and simple pieces that make progress enjoyable and motivating.

For more advanced students - we can work on technique, musical interpretation, repertoire, sight-reading, ear training and performance skills. My background in classical, baroque and traditional music allows me to introduce different approaches to sound, phrasing, rhythm and musical expression.

I believe that learning music should be not just serious but also interesting and enjoyable. I want my students not only to play the right notes but also to understand what they are playing, feel it, enjoy it, listen carefully and develop their own musical voice.
