Nicole Timm

Hi, I’m Nicole Timm, a multi-platinum songwriter, artist and topliner based in Los Angeles.

I’m a Berklee College of Music songwriting graduate, summa cum laude, and I also hold an Honours degree in Contemporary Piano Performance. My professional writing credits include artists such as Yeonjun and Beomgyu of TXT, ZEROBASEONE, UNIS, VERIVERY, HeartOfWoman and more. I co-wrote Yeonjun’s “GGUM,” which reached #1 in 32 countries and has accumulated over 160 million Spotify streams, and my work has also received a Hanteo Music Award in Korea.

I am still extremely active in the music industry today, writing, developing projects and working professionally as a songwriter and artist. I regularly work within the international pop and K-pop industries and have travelled to South Korea multiple times for writing sessions connected with HYBE, YG, JYP and SM Entertainment.

Alongside writing for other artists, I release my own music as TIMMS, which means I also bring first-hand experience of developing an artist project, finding a distinctive sound, shaping a cohesive body of work and navigating the creative decisions that come with being an artist yourself.

I specialise in pop, K-pop and contemporary commercial songwriting, and my goal is to give students a collaborative space where we can experiment, refine ideas, identify what is and is not working, and build songs that feel exciting, intentional and uniquely yours.

Because I am actively working in the industry, I can offer students real world feedback based on what is happening in professional writing rooms and artist development right now, rather than only teaching songwriting from an academic perspective. I can help you understand not just how to write a song, but how songs are actually developed, critiqued, rewritten and prepared for the contemporary music industry, pitched, placed and released. 

My lessons focus on songwriting, toplining, artist development and workshopping original songs. Whether you are writing your first song, trying to turn a good idea into a great one, or developing a clear identity and body of work as an artist, each lesson is tailored around where you are and where you want to go.

We can work on melody, lyrics, hooks, concepts, song structure, toplining, co-writing, artistic identity and developing unfinished ideas into fully realised songs. With my background in piano performance, I can also teach you how to use piano and your voice as practical songwriting tools, even if you are not an advanced pianist or singer.
