Reymart Marticio
About
I am a licensed music educator with over 10 years of teaching experience in the Philippines and the United States. I specialize in saxophone and also teach beginner to intermediate flute, clarinet, trumpet, piano, guitar, and percussion.
As a former Band Director and Music Teacher in South Dakota, I taught middle and high school students, directed ensembles, and prepared students for concerts, honor bands, and music competitions.
My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and personalized. I adapt each lesson to the student's goals, whether they are learning for fun, preparing for auditions, or improving their performance skills. I focus on building strong fundamentals in technique, rhythm, music reading, tone, and musical expression while making lessons enjoyable and engaging for learners of all ages.
Teaching Style
From 2021 to 2026, I served as a Band Director and Music Teacher at McLaughlin Middle/High School in South Dakota, where I taught middle and high school students, directed concert bands, and organized school performances. I was honored to receive the 2025 South Dakota Bandmasters Association Midwest Clinic Director of Young Bands Award and helped students earn placements in honor bands and achieve excellent ratings at music contests.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized. I tailor each lesson to the student's age, experience, and goals, whether they are beginners, preparing for auditions, or looking to improve their skills. I focus on building strong fundamentals in technique, rhythm, music reading, tone, and musical expression while creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment that helps students grow with confidence.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines strong fundamentals with practical music-making. Lessons include warm-ups, tone development, technique, rhythm, music reading, ear training, and performance skills. I personalize each lesson to match the student's age, experience, and goals, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Recommended materials include Essential Elements, Standard of Excellence, Rubank Method, Accent on Achievement, and selected solo pieces and exercises appropriate to the student's level. I also use scales, etudes, and songs based on each student's interests and learning objectives.
