About

Ciao! I'm Tyus, the youngest of seven in a big Italian American family where music was always part of home. Singing, playing and leading music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and now I get to help others find that same joy.

I'm finishing my BA in Music at the University of Central Florida, with a minor in Italian, and I graduate in May 2027. I earned my AA in Music from Orange Coast College in 2024, and in summer 2026 I studied in Italy at Florence University of the Arts. I'm also honored to be a 2026–27 NIAF Caroline Guarini Memorial Scholarship recipient.

At UCF I've sung with the Singing Knights for two years, and in May 2026 I sang Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Coming up this season, I'll be singing Vivaldi's Gloria and Handel's Messiah with the Orlando Philharmonic, plus our UCF choir concert. At Orange Coast College I sang in the College Choir and Chorale. I love singing in Italian, and I lead worship music for churches and youth groups.

My training covers all three instruments I teach. At OCC I took Voice 1–2, Advanced Vocal Performance (Broadway), and four semesters of College Choir. I studied Piano 1–4 and three semesters of Piano Master Class. Guitar is where I've done the most: Studio Guitar 1–4, Classical Guitar 1–3, Guitar Ensemble and Jazz Improvisation. I carry a 3.6 GPA.

I've taught private voice, guitar and piano lessons since 2020, mostly online over Zoom, plus in-person students. I started during COVID while working as an instructional aide at Edison High School, where I spent seven years (2015–2022). After that I was a job coach at GT Independence (2022–2024) and a registered behavior technician (2025–2026). That work taught me patience and how to adjust every lesson to the person in front of me. I've also led music in churches, youth groups, Young Life and special needs ministry, so I'm used to teaching all kinds of learners.

I teach all ages, and I especially love working with beginners. Voice is my main focus, and I also teach beginner to intermediate guitar and beginner piano. Whether you're brand new or getting back into music, I'd love to help. Let's find your voice!

Teaching Style

Our first lesson starts with a conversation. I like to get to know you: what music you love, what you want to be able to do, and how you learn best. From there I build lessons around you, using songs you actually enjoy while we work on real skills like breathing, pitch, rhythm, chords and reading music.

My lessons are relaxed, encouraging and step by step. I break things into small, doable pieces so you can feel progress every week, and I send a short practice plan after each lesson. I adapt as we go, so the lessons always fit where you are and where you want to grow.

Curriculum

I tend to use a progressive method, starting with fundamentals like hand positioning, chords, and rhythm. I then advance to scales, improvisation, and performance skills at a pace that matches each student’s development. For kids, I weave in games, visuals, and real-world music to keep lessons engaging. I love blending in songs from students’ personal interests—whether that’s Disney, pop hits, or classic rock—to make learning relevant and exciting.
