About

My name is Weiyue (Walle) Ge, and I am a professional conductor, music director, violinist, and music educator. I earned both my Bachelor's Degree (2005–2010) and Master's Degree (2016–2019) in Orchestral Conducting from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, graduating as the top applicant in my class under the mentorship of Prof. Guoyong Zhang and Prof. Yousheng Lin.

Over the past 15 years, my professional performance experience has spanned major international stages and productions. I served as Principal Conductor and Executive Music Coordinator for Disney in Concert (USA) from 2023 to 2024, and as Guest Conductor for four seasons (2022–2026) of the contemporary Kunqu opera masterpiece The Peony Pavilion at the Shanghai Grand Theater. Additionally, I have been the Principal Resident Conductor and Music Director for Tiantian Music since 2013, conducting hundreds of symphonic concerts in top venues such as the Shenzhen Concert Hall and Beijing Concert Hall, and worked as Assistant Conductor and Vocal Coach for Maestro Lorin Maazel's production of Turandot at the Guangzhou Grand Theater in 2010.

In addition to my performance career, I have extensive teaching and youth ensemble leadership experience. From 2014 to 2023, I served as the Founder, Artistic Director, and Conductor of the Shanghai Huangpu Student Philharmonic, where I led the youth orchestra to win 1st Place (Gold Award) at the National Youth Art Exhibition by the Ministry of Education of China in 2015, 2018, and 2021, as well as 2nd Place at the Philadelphia International Music Festival Competition in 2019. I also served as Resident Conductor for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra MISA Festival Youth Ensemble from 2018 to 2021, dedicating myself to nurturing the next generation of musicians through rigorous technical training and artistic mentorship.

Teaching Style

  • My teaching philosophy is centered on fostering artistic individuality while building rigorous technical precision. I believe that every musician—regardless of age or skill level—learns best through a tailored combination of structural technique, musical expressiveness, and practical performance skills.

In lessons, I prioritize clear physical mechanics (posture, bow/hand technique, and relaxed efficiency), deep score comprehension, and ear training. I strive to create an encouraging, structured environment where students build real confidence, learn effective practice habits, and develop a genuine passion for musical storytelling.
