About

Understanding the violin is the fastest way to improve.

Many violinists reach a point where they know what they want to achieve but do not know how to get there: a sound that does not improve, recurring technical difficulties, unnecessary tension, or the feeling of being stuck despite practicing many hours.

I am Xavier Querol, a violin teacher at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona and a performing violinist. I combine my teaching activity with my artistic career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player across Europe.

With more than eight years of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, from beginners discovering the violin for the first time to advanced students preparing auditions, competitions, and conservatory entrance exams.

My approach is based on helping students understand the instrument: what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how to continue improving independently. A strong technique is not the final goal, but the tool that allows each musician to play with more freedom, confidence, and expression.

Teaching Style

My lessons are structured, personalized, and focused on real progress.

We work on the elements that make the biggest difference in violin playing: sound quality, technical efficiency, healthy movement, practice organization, and musical expression.

Instead of simply giving instructions, I help students understand the principles behind each solution, so they can develop awareness and become more independent musicians.

Every student has a different path. Whether the goal is enjoying the instrument, improving technique, preparing an audition, or developing as an advanced violinist, lessons are adapted to each student's needs and objectives.

Curriculum

My teaching combines the European violin tradition with a clear and practical understanding of how the instrument works.

I select exercises, studies, and repertoire according to each student's level, goals, and individual needs.

Depending on the student, we may work with:

  • Scales and technical systems (Flesch, Galamian, etc.)
  • Etudes by Kreutzer, Dont, Mazas, Rode, and other classical violin literature
  • Technical exercises adapted to specific challenges
  • Suzuki repertoire and progressive materials for beginners
  • Classical repertoire from the Baroque to contemporary music

The objective is never to follow a method mechanically, but to use the right tools at the right moment to help each student progress efficiently.
