I've been playing for 23 years and teaching for about eight years. I may or may not have a kit with me during our lesson but can still teach you what you need to know. I have played drums with Dying Fetus, Chimaira, Black Dahlia Murder, Daath, Misery Index, Hate Eternal, Red Chord, Cattle Decap, Six Feet Under, Devildriver, Battlecross, a Slayer audition, etc.
I will ask students what they want to learn and then show them what they need to practice to get there. Because I will not necessarily have a drum kit on my end, most of the lesson will consist of me telling the student what to play and the best practicing methods.
