About

Elizabeth is an experienced, compassionate teacher who loves to teach children and adults of all ages.  She has taught piano/keyboard lessons for 18+  years.  She received a BA from Columbia College in Music and Arts Administration.  She enjoys teaching children with a variety of personality types and believes lessons should be fun while being educational.   She taught piano lessons at a music studio store for over 13 years and had a waiting list.  She loves teaching beginners and those returning to lessons later in life to learn to play.   She aspires to bring out each student's best with an individually focused lesson plan in a positive, encouraging, creative and patient atmosphere.  She has been an accompanist for several groups including various college and high school choral groups and vocalists.

Liz says:   "I have always loved the piano and hope to bring this love and joy of making  your own music in the moment to each student!"

Please email her for other lesson time availability if needed.

I love teaching others to play piano and keyboard.  I strive to connect with each student in a way that best fits their learning style, personality, choice of music, and time available for practice.  I teach classical, popular music, and whatever type of music the student is interested in.  I use method books, supplementary materials and let the student choose music they like as well.  Lessons cover chord work/harmonization, improvisation, ear training, transposing, composing, etc.  I believe teaching with encouragement, patience and positive reinforcement helps students to learn and build confidence in themselves.  I want each student to feel comfortable learning at their own pace.  Lessons can be adapted to a student's goals or interests as well.

I specialize in helping students that are especially nervous or sensitive about taking lessons.  The studio I taught at recommended me for students that were afraid, more sensitive or shy with lessons.

I love to share the joy and creative expression that can come from learning to play the piano.

Lesson methods and materials are based on each individual's level and needs. I use various method books/workbooks and supplementary materials/worksheets to enhance learning and interest
Students are encouraged to pick music they would like to learn.
Chord work, improvisation, ear training, composing, working with lead sheets plus more are all part of making a well-rounded music student.
