Naomi Gillies graduated from Berklee College of Music with degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Business/Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. While at Berklee, Naomi had the honor of performing in many college productions including the coveted Singers Showcase, as well as performing with countless amazing musicians, including Alison Krauss, The Eagles, Ben E. King, and Grammy Award-winning producer Don Was. Right before graduating, Naomi was featured as a top 40 contestant on Fox’s hit show American Idol, season 11. As a professional singer, Naomi has extensive studio and stage experience. She fronts one of New England’s most popular function bands, K2, as well as a Boston-based rock band, Canary. She is often found in the studio recording demos for songwriters and producers and is currently working on writing and releasing her first solo album.
Whether you plan to sing rock, country, opera, musical theater, or any other style of music imaginable, the basic technical principles of singing all remain the same. Naomi’s teaching style builds upon this idea: cultivate a healthy voice so that you can have various stylistic tools added on top to cater to your sound. Naomi will help you build the proper technique so that everything you do vocally is because you choose to, not because it’s the only way you can. Combined with technique, Naomi focuses on connecting your voice and your vocal choices to the emotions of the song so that you can effectively communicate to your audience through your music.
