About

Marcus has been a professional musician/composer/teacher since the early 90s.

After graduating from Berklee Collage of Music he was offered a music scoring job in Tokyo, Japan where he moved. Unlike many musicians his passion is focused on teaching over anything else. He quickly set out to build his own music school in Tokyo with a unique creative approach to teaching music. He became a teacher at various kinds of schools to learn more about teaching music on Japan. All while keeping his scoring job, performing, and free-lance composing. After teaching at universities and private schools he finally opened his own school. It quickly became a success! Since then he has focused most of his time teaching at his school and perfecting his methods of bringing the wonder of creativity to music education.

Besides teaching Marcus has had various bands and performed and toured with musicians from all over the world. He has also composed over 300 scores for films, documentaries, video games, TV, commercials, and other media. He is active locally with bringing improvisation and music of the world into his local area. He is also active online spreading imaginative and "unconventional" methods of creating music on his YouTube channel, community dedicated to music games, and more.

Teaching Style

Music lessons for creative people.

Every aspect of Marcus' lessons work with the student's imagination. From the very beginning he gets into using your creative power to explore the guitar and music in general. Each lesson is approached with a positive and playful spirit, but at the same time pushes and disciplines the students to go beyond what they imagined possible.

Marcus can quickly understand why you are playing the guitar and interested in music, and he will then can up with a map for you to use to achieve that and discover a lot more along the way.

He is known for his teaching of improvisation of various types and applying imaginative methods towards understanding music, the guitar, and various musical styles.
