Teaching Style
Learn the songs you love!
We'll introduce songs of choice in the first few lessons.
We'll focus on enjoyment and ease, while developing strong foundations in music.
Students describe me as warm and friendly, and I've constantly received positive feedback from students and parents throughout my teaching career.
All styles and ages welcome including adult students and exam students.
Curriculum
Student goals dictate lesson content.
Many students want to learn how to read, while also learning songs / genres they love.
A popular curriculum combination is:
1) during the first half of the lesson, focussing on scales and book work (technical), followed by
2) working on songs of choice (musicality, less technical, enjoyment focussed).

For school aged students and adult students we use the Hal Leonard piano book series.
As a teacher, I particularly appreciate the backing tracks these books provide as they are a fantastic tool for students to utilize during lessons as well as during independent practice between lessons.
