Alessandra Soro
About
Hi! My name is Alessandra and I am an italian singer and music teacher based in Turin, Italy.
I began performing when I began studying - 10 years ago - and I never stopped! I have 5 important musical projects concerning jazz, hip hop and R&B. I won a scholarship during Umbria Jazz 2015: with it I was able to attend Berklee Online Course in Arrangment: Woodwinds and Strings. I always loved teaching and I began doing it professionally two years ago.
Since the CoVid emergency, I had to move 95% of my job online. Unfortunately, here in Italy we have no idea when we are going to be able to perform again and school won't open until september. So I opened my profile here, and I am going to teach online for at least one year!
Here's my teaching CV:
Music (Singing / Complementary Piano / Harmony / Ear Training )
- Privately: 2018 to today
- Mileto Musica, Pinerolo, Italy: 2019 to today
Teaching Style
This job is rewarding me with such great emotions! I feel blessed to be able to follow my students during their paths.
I teach privately at home and in schools. I love teaching as much as I love performing! I like to take time to understand the needs of each student, this way we are able to build a personalized path for you! If you are curious enough, we will get everywhere you want.
I teach: jazz/modern vocals; jazz/modern complementary piano; jazz/modern harmony and theory. I can help you work on your own compositions, or be able to listen more deeply to the tunes you love, or give you informations about music history.
My classes are in english or italian!
We are going to build a very personal path for each of you. No prior knowledge is required: just curiosity, will and spare time! Whenever we are going to need texts I am going to suggest them. I also work with a couple of card I wrote for my students during the years.
Credentials & Affiliations
My musical studies in modern singing and piano began when I was 15 years old. There, I was able to develop my passions, which were born when I was little. I began studying at the A. Vivaldi Conservatory of Alessandria in 2014, were I had the chance to study jazz singing with Gaia Mattiuzzi. In 2016 I switched to Jazz Composing and Arranging under the guide of Enrico Fazio.
Since 2015, I have been singing on many national stages with different kinds of ensembles – from duo to quintets.
In 2015 I recorded a short demo with pianist Emanuele Francesconi, which granted me the acces to Berklee’s clinics in Umbria Jazz 2015. There, my teachers gave me the chance to compete for a scholarship. With the one I won I chose to attend Berklee Online’s course “Arranging: Woodwinds and Strings” with faculty Jerry Gates.
In 2019, during Nuoro Jazz Seminars, I was selected by teachers with five other musicians to form the Group of Best Students (news coming soon!).
From 2015 I have been working not only as a singer and a performer in different projects – among them, The Jazz Rapsody Collective – but also as a composer of original soundtracks and as a music teacher.
Seminars and Jazz Festvals: Jazz It Fest in Collescipoli 2013, Novara Jazz 2015, Umbria Jazz 2015 (Berklee Clinics), Anteprima Torino Jazz Festival 2016, Umbria Jazz 2017 (Berklee Clinics), esemble courses with Alberto Marsico, Nuoro Jazz 2018, Nuoro Jazz 2019.
