With over 10 years of experience, I KNOW you can learn violin! No matter your age, violin is for anyone! Specializing in beginner/intermediate, your lesson is customized to your specific needs and goals. Lessons are focused on building a strong foundation in theory, technique, sight-reading & ear training. I can’t wait to get started exploring your potential musical Mozart within!

Lauren Kirwan’s degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with TESOL and ELL endorsements from the University of Central Florida, as well as an Associates of Arts in Music Education from the College of Central Florida. Mrs. Lauren studied under the tutelage of Rosa Harrison- Acompora, Carol McCoy, and William Lewis.

Mrs. Lauren was singing at the age of 3, and began learning the violin at the age of 5. She has been a member and guest of several orchestras, and choirs; these include The Ocala Youth Symphony, The Villages Philharmonic Orchestra, the Marion Civic Choral and Stetson University String Ensemble and Choir. She was a special guest of The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Violinist Joshua Bell. In February 2013 Mrs. Lauren fulfilled a lifelong dream and soloed at Carnegie Hall. Mrs. Lauren has also performed at many graduation ceremonies for Saint Leo University, Rasmussen College, College of Central Florida, and more. Mrs. Lauren especially enjoys performing for special occasions, (such as weddings, parties, funerals, etc.), accompanying other musicians, and teaching.

Mrs. Lauren began teaching in 2008, and has had much experience with all learning types and ages. She began teaching private lessons prior to college, and has continued ever since. Lauren spent 5 valuable years at FBC Ocala's School of Music teaching Violin, Voice, and Piano to students 4 ½ to senior adults. She also taught group classes and worked one-on-one with several handicapped and disabled students. Mrs. Lauren also spent time in the public school system, assisting with the Howard Middle School Choir and FBC Dunnellon's Orchestra. Mrs. Lauren also taught 3rd Grade Math and Science in the Florida Public School System.

Teaching Style

As a teacher, my goal is to instill an ongoing thirst for knowledge and inspire learning. Music Education provides necessary life skills such as self-discipline, self-expression, responsibility, patience, and teamwork. I always strive to this end as well as teaching independent critical listening and thinking skills.

My approach to student assessment reflects my goals. While my standards are high, I help students meet expectations by reviewing and supplementing materials, techniques, etc., wherever needed.

An effective music educator is enthusiastic and passionate about music and working with students of all abilities. I believe in a flexible manner of instruction.   I am aware of students’ different experiences and temperaments, and believe that every student, regardless of background, can improve his or her ability to listen to, understand, and perform a piece of music.

Lastly, I believe the most rewarding profession is making a difference in an individual’s life through music.
