About
I have been Second Trumpet at the Metropolitan Opera since 2004. Prior to joining to Met, I enjoyed a varied freelance career, performing frequently with the NY Philharmonic, the NJ Symphony Orchestra, as well as many Broadway shows and movie scores. In 2017, I served as the Acting Associate Principal Trumpet of the San Francisco Symphony.
I have been on the faculty at Mannes School of Music since 2006, and served as Brass Department Chairman from 2008-2015. In addition to my current position at Mannes, I recently joined the faculty at Montclair State University. I have taught masterclasses at the Manhattan School of Music, the University of Kansas, the University of Memphis and Hofstra University. I joined the faculty of the Round Top Music festival in 2013.
I would describe my teaching style as direct and encouraging. My goal is for students to be the best version of themselves while enjoying the journey to become a complete musician. I believe trumpet playing is a discipline and passion that should be both fun and rewarding due to consistent effort. Efficiency is key to pushing the boundaries of what we are wiling to try, and the more efficient we can be the more fun we have!
