Kayla Putzke

I am an 18 year old musician who is looking to help beginners find their love for music and where exactly they belong in the industry! I am attending Jacksonville University in the fall of 2020 and will be majoring in music therapy with an education focus on a full tuition music and academic scholarship. I play many different instruments, but my main focus in giving lessons will be teaching saxophone, piano, voice, and songwriting. I have been playing saxophone for 8+ years and have received numerous distinctions in my time of playing this instrument. Several of these distinctions include First chair in All-District band (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020), First chair in Tri-State honors band (2019, 2020), and superiors at the district and state level of solo and ensemble.My main focus on saxophone in regards to music style is classical.  I began playing piano when I was 5 years old and have been actively playing in various bands and churches for 8 years. I have played and sang alongside the band 6 wire from the TV show Nashville as well as opening for Steve Augeri from Journey and Vince Gill.  I focus primarily on pop, alternative, and singer/songwriter style music on piano. I have taken vocal lessons for 10+ years and I actively sing and play at various festivals and gigs. At these gigs, I primarily sing my original songs, several of which can be found on apple music, spotify, and youtube. I have written in Nashville with various prestigious writers and have preformed at many songwriting festivals such as SIP Napa in California, and Roscolusa in Jacksonville Florida. 

Depending on the desires of each student, I will begin teaching based on theory, chords, or even simply teaching one song at a time. In regards to songwriting, I am more than happy to work on pre-written songs, helping each student create the best version of their originals, or write a new song with the student.
