Morgan Byers
About
My name is Morgan Byers. I’m a positive and encouraging cello teacher with over 11 years of teaching experience. I offer online lessons for cellists of all ages and skill levels.
I’m a cellist, music producer, and performer. I love helping people reach their goals and seeing my students succeed in what they are passionate about.
My teaching experience includes running my own private lesson program with many recurring students since 2015. I was also hired as an instructor for a school grant program, teaching weekly music lessons.
Some of my proudest musical experiences include:
-Cellist/keyboardist in the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (2014–2017; co-principal cellist in 2017)
-Electric/acoustic cello performer at the Jefferson State Flixx Festival (2016, 2017, 2018)
-Electric cello/DJ performance at Alta Ski Resort’s closing day “Frank” party (2025)
-Electric cello/DJ performances at NABS Music Festival (2025, 2026)
Teaching Style
I focus mainly on playing notated music tailored to the student’s preferences (classical, pop, rock, jazz, etc.) and developing fundamental techniques (like scales and etudes). For interested students at a proficient level, we often work on concepts of improvisation and composition as well.
Curriculum
I start my beginner students off with a method book like All for Strings: Cello Book 1 so they can get a firm grasp of the fundamentals. From there, I introduce skill-appropriate repertoire that we can pick out together. I tailor each lesson to the student, since every musician is unique!
