Ian MacMillan

Ian began drumming at the age of 12 in symphonic style drumming, going on to lead competitive drum corps with the Dartmouth Pipe Band Association, capturing many solo and drum corps titles / awards on the Maritime and North American circuits including Champion Supreme on numerous occasions and the 2000 North American Championships. In 1994, Ian widened his focus to Cuban, West African, Middle Eastern, Flamenco, and Brazilian percussion. He has toured & performed extensively across Canada, the USA , the Carribbean, and Europe.

I specialize in teaching youth between the ages of 9 to 19. Many of my students have gone on to play in bands and win awards locally and internationally.

My approach is flexible, based upon the needs of the student. Goals are discussed and lessons are catered to the interests of the individual. Students develop proper technique and musicianship while working on material that is suitable, relevant, and tailored to their needs.

Any and all styles of music are welcomed, and students are encouraged to choose music that they enjoy listening to.

Parents are welcome to attend and watch the lesson while in progress.

I have over 30 years of drumming experience and more than 25 years of teaching experience with a broad range of ages.
