Anastasiya Nyzkodub

I am a professional clarinetist and a teacher based in the Twin-Cities area. I had recently completed my Doctorate of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance at the University of Minnesota. I also received my Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota and my Bachelor Degree at Grand Valley State University, both are in Clarinet Performance. I am originally from Ukraine where I attended a music school from a young age.  At the age of 10, I  moved to Siberia with my family where I continued to  study clarinet with my father, Sergiy Nizkodub at the College of Arts in Khanty-Mansiysk. My recent performances include playing principal clarinet with Fargo-Moorhead Symphony for the Masterworks Concert Series and playing principal clarinet with the Metropolitan Symphony orchestra. In the last few seasons she had performed with Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, Encore Winds and North Star Winds.  I also performed solo and chamber music in the concerts featuring Russian composers with Minnesota Orchestra violinist Helen Chung and Denis Evstuhin. 

I have been teaching clarinet for about 10 years. My teaching experience  includes such levels as  beginners, intermediate, more advanced and college level.  I spend some portion of teaching focusing on the fundamentals (this includes: warm up, scales, etudes/studies).  With online lessons, I give my students duets where I record second part and they play first part, and then we switch. This is very good for practicing sight-reading and learning how to play with someone else. We also learn pieces and work on excerpts (orchestral and band).  I have worked as a teaching assistant for the Music Theory and Ear-Training Department at the University of Minnesota.  I also taught  theory group classes (Level 1,2) at Kramers School of Music (Eden Prairie, MN).
